REVENUE & INVESTMENT

This year, travel experts anticipate a busy 2024 holiday season, with many Americans planning to travel more frequently and spend higher amounts compared to last year. Younger generations and high-income travelers are driving this increase, prioritizing experiences over material gifts. Hotels must adapt to evolving preferences, including the rise of remote work, tech-driven experiences and higher expectations for mobile and contactless services, especially from Gen Z and millennial travelers. PEOPLE & STAFF

Keeping staff in the holiday spirit

The holidays present unique challenges for hotel staff, particularly in managing increased workloads and maintaining guest satisfaction. To address these challenges, hotels are prioritizing staff well-being through strategic planning, flexible scheduling and employee recognition programs. By investing in their teams, hotels can ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both staff and guests during the busiest time of the year. (Hotel Management)

TECHNOLOGY

Hotels ride the wave of wellness to new heights

Modern wellness technologies, or "welltech," offer hotels the opportunity to boost their brand and increase revenue by integrating innovative tools like infrared saunas, cryochambers and PEMF devices into guest rooms or spas. These non-invasive tools, which often use sound, light or electromagnetic frequencies, can improve guest wellness, boost relaxation and potentially reduce inflammation or promote recovery, making them valuable for high-tech spa and gym renovations. Despite skepticism from some hotel leaders, wave technologies show promise in improving both physical and mental health, and their touchless nature allows hotels to add new revenue streams with minimal labor costs.
