Hotels serve up quick bites and fresh breakfast ideas
Hotels are reimagining breakfast options to align with guest preferences for quick, portable choices such as breakfast sandwiches and bowls, moving away from traditional buffet spreads. Prioritizing health and sustainability, many properties feature locally sourced ingredients and a variety of dishes tailored to different dietary needs. This evolution highlights a broader shift in traveler expectations, focusing on convenience, nutrition and creative culinary experiences. (Hotels Mag)
Redesigning for the future of events
Bookings for in-person events are surging, with over 60% of event planners prioritizing more live gatherings in the coming years, prompting hotel owners to renovate spaces to capture this revenue opportunity. Hotels are focusing on upgrades that reflect local character, offer flexible and tech-forward event areas, and incorporate wellness features like daylight access and meditation rooms. These renovations not only increase a hotel’s appeal but also provide a significant return on investment by positioning properties as ideal venues for modern events. (Hotel Dive)
Hospitality gets a makeover with people, tech in sync
The hospitality industry can address pandemic-induced staffing shortages with solutions like advanced property management systems that automate up to 70% of administrative tasks. This shift allows hotels to redefine roles, focusing on guest interaction and hiring for personality and customer-centric skills rather than technical expertise. Empowering staff with flexible roles, leveraging AI for personalized service and fostering autonomy to deliver thoughtful touches all enhance the guest experience while boosting guest loyalty. A closer look at Gen Z’s tech wishlist
Millennial and Gen Z travelers are reshaping the hotel industry by expecting more advanced tech amenities, pushing hotels to adapt. To meet these preferences, hotels could consider incorporating features like 4K TVs with streaming options, interactive photo zones, service robots and eco-friendly services such as electric vehicle charging stations. By embracing these technologies, hotels can stay competitive and attract these key demographics, ensuring long-term success in a rapidly changing travel landscape. (Skift)
Carolina Beach motel finds its groove again
In a recent Motel Rescue episode, host Lindsey Kurowski visits Carolina Beach, North Carolina, to help Susan Riggs, owner of the 22-room Savannah Inn, rebuild her motel and morale after Hurricane Florence's devastating impact. Kurowski revitalizes the property with a bright, modern take on a retro beach resort, featuring retro tiles in the bathrooms, vintage-inspired wallpaper and fresh, vibrant paint on the walls, alongside additions like a coffee bar for drinks and merchandise sales and an outdoor movie lounge area. The transformation brings fresh charm and new revenue opportunities to the property while uplifting its dedicated owner. (Discovery Plus)
